Just found out that all LDS temples will now be minimum LEED certified through the US Green Building Council starting with the Kansas City and Philadelphia temples.

The Netherlands The Hague Temple was constructed well below sea level. Could that perhaps be an argument to help climate change deniers in the right direction?
Are we really going to wait and see what happens? As a Dutchmen New Orleans quickly comes to mind ...

I haven't read through your archives to see if you've written more about this yet. I'm a civil engineer and am interested in getting my LEED AP certification. However, it seems to me that the entire LEED/USGBC programs are money-driven. That's just a superficial observation, but I'm wondering if it's more about generating money and less about protecting the environment.
I'd be greatfully surprised if the church actually pursued LEED certification. From what I have heard, they like the concepts and would like the architects to follow the principles, but when it comes to certification fees, they have a hard time committing. LEED is by far the best green building system out there and the only way to really know if you are getting a LEED building is to get it certified. . otherwise, it is hard to actually prove it is green.

By the way, I am also an LDS architect and I just found your blog. So far, I like it.
I hope this means a change in the horrible design of new meetinghouses in the US.
